Good Morning, it's Thursday, May 7th and here's a look at what's happening at the Volvo Ocean Race Newport Race Village today!

Volvo Ocean Race Newport Race Village today sees everyone associated with the race anxiously awaiting Team SCA's arrival. Team SCA is the only crew remaining on the water. As of 8:45 a.m., the all-female crew was within 30 nautical miles of Newport and expected to finish mid-morning. These girls deserve a warm welcome to Newport, we encourage folks to come down to Fort Adams State Park between 10 a.m. - 11a.m. to cheer on the arrival of Team SCA.

Schedule Of Public Events For May 7th, 2015 (Schedule subject to change)

11 a.m. - 7 p.m.: Volvo Ocean Race Newport Stopover Race Village Open To The Public

The Race Village will be open daily, May 5-17 and is free admission to all ages. The twelve-day public celebration will feature racing off the shore of Fort Adams (May 14-17), entertainment, a marine Exploration Zone, sponsor pavilions, family games, a "Life at the Extreme" theater, team compounds, try sailing, kids activities, concerts and a working boatyard. The race boats will be docked at Fort Adams for public viewing.

11 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Try Sailing

Come onboard a Sail Newport J/22 to experience sailing. All ages invited. Lifejackets provided.

12 p.m. - 6:40 p.m.: Another Day At The Office

An informative and entertaining quiz show based on the race and life on board, presented to you by a host who will guide you through a 40 minute program. The public will be divided into 7 teams and compete by both answering questions (through voting-boxes), and participating in physical challenges.

There is a food court and beer garden on the north lawn at Fort Adams. Also, the sponsor pavilions for Volvo and SCA are open to the public. Visitors to the Volvo pavilion can experience the auto maker's autonomous driving vehicles, while the SCA pavilion has a replica of the team's Volvo Ocean 65 constructed of 100,000 pieces of Lego.

Parking at Fort Adams State Park will be free between May 5 and May 8. May 9th - 13th parking will cost $10, from May 14-17, parking will cost $20.
